The actress Lindsay Lohan has officially been cast in the upcoming mob movie 'Gotti: Three Generations'.
Lindsay Lohan will play John Gotti Jr.'s wife Kim in the film, which tells the story of John Jr.'s relationship with his father, the late Gambino crime family boss John Gotti. John Travolta has been cast as John Sr. and Joe Pesci will portray his deputy Angelo Ruggiero in the biopic, which is due out in 2012.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Lindsay Lohan had originally auditioned for the role of the Dapper Don's daughter, Victoria Gotti, but that deal fell through and she continued to lobby for a part in the project.
I'm really excited to be back on set and clear up all the misinterpretations about me and show this is what I love to do, says the troubled star, who will appear in court on Friday for a felony grand theft case in which an L.A. jewelry store accused her of stealing a $2,500 necklace.
Lindsay Lohan adds that she can sympathize with Kim Gotti and her family. You don't get to see the heart behind the story and the real side of people, she says of most mob movies. I can relate to that because I think that I've been portrayed in a certain light. I just want to do my best to show what their family really went through.
The rule under of John Gotti Sr., who died from cancer in 2002 while serving a life sentence, the Gambino family became the most powerful crime organization in the U.S. His son, John Jr., was inducted into the Mafia in 1988 at age 24, but has insisted that he got out in the 1990s. He has since sold the rights to his life story to Fiore Films, which is developing 'Gotti'.
Marc Fiore, the film's executive producer said, We're very pleased to have Lindsay Lohan on-board. She has been very enthusiastic about the Gotti project, and after resuming discussions with her, we were impressed by her commitment to the film and felt she would be a perfect Kim Gotti.
